Many dropshippers have made a great deal of money on eBay. This is no surprise, given that the traffic on eBay is worth some $40 billion per year, and reaches about 200 million customers. Some products—or rather, products targeted towards certain niches—are proving more “sellable” than others. You can take advantage of this by being aware of the niches that are currently the most profitable ones on eBay, based on statistics from the first quarter of the year. They are listed and described below.

Wearables

This category covers clothes, accessories and shoes. $4.5 billion dollars were poured into this product category within the first three months of 2009, and nearly seven million unique visitors browse through this category every month. The youth market appears to be a particularly hot one, given the products and brand names listed in the most popular search terms: Ed Hardy, Hollister, , Juicy Couture, Anthropologie, Guess, and Free People, bebe, handbags, prom dresses, and shoes. Here’s an interesting fact: did you know that on eBay, a pair of shoes is sold every three seconds, and that every 18 seconds a dress is bought? A (relatively) slow item is the necktie, which is, on average, sold once every 58 seconds.
  Consumer Electronics

Yes, gadgets are hot, hot, hot! No surprise in our technology-driven age. Entertainment and communication devices sell best. 5.7 million visitors go through this category monthly. They tend to be looking for the following items: iPod, Mac, Wii, iPod Touch, PSP, Bose, cell phones, GPS, Nintendo DS, and Xbox 360. Every 6 seconds, a cell phone is sold. Mp3 players sell slightly slower at the rate of about one every 18 seconds. Other fast sells are video game systems and GPS devices. That most coveted of home-entertainment devices, the LCD flat-panel TV, leaves eBay’s virtual shelves at the rate of about one every half-hour.
