Using Candles to Make your Home Warmer

The weather is getting that chill in the air. The days are getting shorter. What we need in our homes right now is more warmth and more light. Candles are one of the best ways to give us what we need.

Candles are great because they offer just the right amount of warmth and light to make a room feel truly special. They're better than lamps because they're disposable, portable and easy to change out as the seasons change.

Candles can be added to any room. They can light a dining table and give it a feeling of romance. They can surround a tub and make your bathroom feel like a spa. Or they can make an artistic statement sitting on display even when they are unlit.

I love the fact that candles can really alter the way that a room feels and yet they are affordable and simple. If you don't like the effect they create, you can move them or buy new ones. Try them in all areas of the house! The fireplace here is what really makes this space warm. However, you're not going to want to make a fire every night of the season. That's why it's so great to put some stylish candles on your fireplace mantle. Light them instead on nights when a fire feels like too much work and you'll still be able to cozy up here with some warm light. Wow - talk about a display of candles there! You have every size all together so that they create a piece of artwork without even being lit. This is a great way to store candles so they decorate the home when they aren't in use. I like the fact that these are all the same color but I wonder how neat it would look if they were all different?! A candle display doesn't have to be elaborate at all. Here we have three simple candles that are identical in shape and style but different in height. This is just one more interesting piece added to a room filled with lots of little things to look at. It's not the most warming effect of all but it does add to the total warm appeal of the room.
